THE BARN
Hart Barn is a stylish contemporary retreat for two. Spread over three floors, the barn has over 800 square feet of living space and gorgeous views from the first floor living room across the Patterdale valley to the mountains beyond. Having stripped the barn back to bare walls, we have painstakingly re-built the whole property - re-instating the character of a barn with a vaulted green oak roof structure and double height living area, whilst adding the comforts of a 21st century home combined with the indulgence of a five star boutique hotel.
Linking all three floors is the main feature of the house: a unique spiral staircase constructed from old oak railway sleepers and polished stainless steel.

The spacious master bedroom is on the top floor and has a vaulted green oak roof with windows overlooking Brock Crags to the rear. A sumptuous King sized bed sits regally in the centre of the room which is balconied over the living room below.
At the foot of the stairs on the first floor is the bathroom, fully tiled in limestone, with a freestanding bath, corner shower and Philippe Starck sanitaryware. A handmade LED glass chandelier cascades down from the vaulted ceiling of the double height living room which has an L-shaped sofa positioned to capture the views and the glow of the woodburning stove. A glazed door leads from the first floor straight out to the rear patio and raised terrace at the top of a rocky outcrop.

The front door opens into an entrance hall separated from the slick 70's inspired dining-kitchen by a striking curved wall. Your toes will tingle with joy as you remove your walking boots and pad across the gorgeous heated Cumbrian limestone floor. Even better there is a utility room to the rear where dirty boots and soggy clothes can be cleaned and left to dry, keeping the kitchen a relaxing haven after a day on the fells.

However it is our attention to detail and our desire to seek out and support local artists and craftspeople which makes Hart Barn really special. Put simply, Hart Barn has the art and soul of Cumbria and the North at its heart, plus our passion for old buildings and contemporary design..we love the place and hope you will too!
